Home Visits

Home visits

Patients whose illness prevents them from attending the surgery may be visited at home at the discretion of the doctor. Requests for visits should be made before 10:30. This will help the doctors to plan their rounds and avoid unnecessary delays.

You will be asked to give your name, address, year of birth and brief details of your problem. It is always best to attend the surgery wherever possible.

Non-urgent advice: Am I Eligible?

Home visits are only for patients who meet the following criteria:

  • Bedbound
  • Terminally ill
  • Would come to serious harm if moved.
  • Under the management of a care home.

Home visits are not for patients who have a lack of transportation or affordable transportation to the surgery.

More Information:

Urgent Visits

Please tell the receptionist if you need a visit urgently.

Our reception staff will tell the doctor, who will probably speak to you directly to assess the degree of urgency of your call.

After 18:00 weekdays and at weekends, by telephoning the surgery you will hear a recorded message asking you to dial NHS 111 for assistance, as this is our out of hours service provider.

Home Visits for Children

Home visits for children are not encouraged by the practice as children under 16 are best seen at the surgery.

The practice will always try and accommodate patients under the age of 16 who need to be seen on that day.
